A passion for swimming outdoors

In recent years, we have developed a passion for swimming outdoors. We recognise the massive benefits that this has had on our physical and emotional wellbeing and decided to set up The Wild Swimming Women to share that with others.

Through The Wild Swimming Women, we’ll share our favourite swims (including directions and helpful tips) and advice about swimming outdoors, as well as interviews with our favourite Wild Swimming Women (and men!).

We also offer introductory sessions for anyone who’d like to try swimming outdoors. These cover safety, what equipment you’ll need, how to enter the water safely and what to look out for, as well as showing you how to leave the water and warm up safely.

We’ll also offer guided swims for those who are keen to try a new swimming spot but don’t want to do so alone.

About us…

Nic

I’m Nicola Davidson and I am an open water swimming coach and swimming guide based in the West of Scotland. I’m a qualified STA Level 2 Open Water Coach and am also qualified to Level 3 in the Royal Life Saving Society National Water Safety Management Programme.

I can usually be found in a bobble hat in a loch, river or waterfall somewhere in the West of Scotland and am passionate about supporting others to enjoy swimming and dooking outdoors! It has had such a positive impact on my own mental and physical health and wellbeing and I’m keen to share that with anyone who is interested.

I was desperate to try open water swimming for many years but fear always got the better of me. When I finally found a coach and gave it a go, I wished I’d done it years ago.

If you’d like to give swimming / dooking outdoors a try or are keen to try a new swimming spot but don’t want to do so alone, get in touch.
